An opulent form, almost excessive in its presence. A white synthetic sapphire rests within the golden surface, surrounded by the irregularities of its making. Traces of the cast remain visible, resisting the promise of a flawless finish.
On the reverse, an empty setting marks the absence of another stone. Whether it was ever essential, or whether its absence completes the object, remains uncertain.
Francesca seems to exist somewhere between the desire for perfection and the refusal to conceal imperfection. Nothing is entirely resolved. Perhaps the most deliberate gesture is to leave the unfinished visible.
